    Exclamation Plane engine on fire!!!

Did anyone just witness this 10 minutes ago?

I heard a huge BOOM outside from my window and it was loud! I thought it was a bomb blast that went off across our field.

I look out my window and holy @#$, I see this plane's engine (1 of them) on FIRE!!

The fire was still going and the plane turned back towards the airport and I couldn't see the fire on the other side of the plane.

Plenty of fire trucks on the runway at YYC. It landed safely.

    Holy @#$!

Didn't another airplane's engine catch on fire in Calgary like last week? It was on the runway though.

I was too shocked to go grab my digital cam to record anything and it was pretty quick before it turned around. I hope someone got some footage for tonight's news.

I ran outside and the plane already was making it's way back to the runway.

I'm sure this will be top story tonight.

Yeah, last week there was another flight (believe it was Alaskan airlines) engine caught on fire during take off (but it didn't leave the ground)

    Scary.

I heard the boom too , right at 6:45 pm. It sounded like thunder.

The other aircraft belonged to Alaskan as Foz stated. It happened on the ramp before take-off I believe.

    Tense moments on Calgary plane

    calgary.ctv.ca

POSTED AT 7:21 PM Friday, November 4

Some terrifying moments for people on-board a plane taking off from the Calgary International Airport Friday night.

At around 6:45 p.m. witnesses reported hearing a loud boom and seeing fire coming out of one of the plane's engines.

Shortly after, the flames went out and the plane turned around to land.

Emergency crews raced to the scene.

    The plane landed safely.

The airport confirms that the plane is an Air Canada craft.

There are unconfirmed reports the plane was carrying 130 people and 45-hundred kilograms of fuel.

    I'll ... ignore that ...

I haven't seen any parts here in Beddington yet, even though it would've been pretty sweet to have some shit land on my volvo so I could get a new car (damn wiring!)... uhm.

I didn't hear the boom, I was at work, but I did see a surprising amount of firetrucks in the NW when i was driving home (heard something about a power outage in brentwood, what was that about?)
