    Default Shipping Rims

    Hey guys,

Where can I buy big boxes and plastic bubble sheets?/blow up foam? so I can carefully package my rims/rubber to ship them out?

Do shipping companies provide such a service?

    Thanks,

should drop by places like tire craft or something see if they just mounted some brand new wheels for a customer. If they did, they might still have the boxes and styrofoam and they'd prolyl let u have it

staples can get you the bubble wrap, but as far as boxes go...call a few tuner shops, maybe they have wheel boxes kicking around.

I'm not sure if you can easily find a box sturdy enough to ship the wheels with tires mounted. When Tirerack ships mounted rims, both sides of the rim up to the tire sidewall are protected by cardboard that is fastened tightly with plastic ties so there's no movement. All 4 tires are strapped together into one bundle. The tread doesn't need to be protected. The key is to keep your packing material tight so there's no movement to scratch the wheels.

Instabox carries a wide variety of boxes with or without foam. I suggest you check them out. I haven’t been to them myself but I’ve heard great things. It might be expensive…but it’s probably worth checking out.

I just cut up circles of cardboard(2), slightly bigger than the rim. Then You can bubble wrap the entire wheel, and tape the shit out of it. The rim is protected by the cardboard, the tire by the bubble wrap.

i've shipped tires (no rims) by mail last summer. i went to Mailboxes Etc. on 17th Ave SW to see what my options were. they wrapped the tires in this industrial strength plastic (for free), taped it up, and sent it out.

with rims you may want to go the cardboard circle thang as mentioned above. keep in mind that when you ship something they not only take in to account the weight, but also the size/dimensions of the item. with a box you might be increasing the size... increasing the price.
