AFAIK, they get pushed back. I think as long as you go and tell them you're not able to make the court date 2 weeks prior to your scheduled court date, you'll be able to set a new court date. Last time I had to do that, the new court date was almost 6 months from when I had to reschedule

Maybe wait until the very last second to change your court date to hold it off even longer!!
For one of my tickets, the cop actually postponed the court date!

I'm on my second post-poned date. My lawyer-type-guy was suppose to appear in march. Then it was pushed back to late June. Now it's not until September 16. Which is okay, because I renew my insurance in August...
