Default Car that I thought would never go through a car wash

Today at work I saw one of the oddest and dumbest things ever. Well I think so.

I saw a guy drive his late 90's Bentley sedan though a touchless car wash. I was like "WTF, who would drive a bentley though a car wash?"

Also about a month ago I saw someone drive a mid 90's viper through one also.

It boggles the mind that they would run a such expensive cars through a wash that is basically fit for econo-boxes. If I had a car like that It would be hand washed only. Hell, I've only used DIY high pressure washers or the good old bucket of water and garden hose now. I've never liked the automatic car washers.

It boggles my mind why people with summer cars have winter beaters.

    It is all relative.

automatic touchless car washes are just as good as a hand wash, if anything they are better because there is no media touching the paint to cause swirls...

Exactly, they may be less personal but not everyone has the luxury of time to be able to hand wash their cars when they want.

The only concern I usually have is the metal tracks that guide the car through the wash. With low profile wheels, that's asking for trouble. But with winter steelies on, it's time to go for a wash myself.

Where are those located? Because all the ones I've seen still have at least one guide rail.

I wash my car 50% of the time at an esso touchless car wash and 50% of the time at a wand wash. I don't see how it is any different? It's only water that touches the car anywho!

Maybe he has enough money he doesn't really care

As for the $20k comment, it's a fairly common argument by the heavily materialistic Not everyone bases their pride of ownership solely on the book value of their car.

actually, touchless car washes use much harsher chemical than a self-serve car wash. It's actually burns through your clear/paint much quicker

Fine, it boggles my mind why someone with a summer car has a winter beater.

What does the price matter? The point is, a car is meant to be driven, not stored.

I take pride in enjoying my car in all conditions, no matter the book value.
