If you think your 10k++ car is burning MORE fuel than it supoose to...maybe consider a new oxygen senser, thermostat, fuel filter etc...
I'm getting those fixed.....and see how it goes may UP my performance too !

thermostat? if that went, u would have worse problems that would tip u off right away rather than bad fuel economy
I wouldn't say the termostat is gone.... its old and not working as efficient as it should?
just replaced mine in the shitbox, havent gone through a tank of gas yet so can't tell the mileage difference but it sure idles better now, especially on startup.
You start with a bag full of luck and an empty bag of experience. The trick is to fill the bag of experience before you empty the bag of luck.
they either work or dont. if they dont work, u will overheat. simple as that!Originally posted by Sky

chances are the coolant needs a flush, like jeff said, the thermo would fail or work. My 94 accord has shitty heat, has ever since I've owned it(5 years). Despite swapping thermo's and changing the coolant, it still sucks!
I've had thermostats that failed in the open position. Car just doesn't get up to operating temp and there's little heat. Guess that's the lesser of two evils.Originally posted by GTS Jeff

Actually, they'll typically stick open, causing overcooling.Originally posted by GTS Jeff

I have yet to personally see one stick closed.
my supra turbo's did regularly!!!
same problem as mine, just to scared of wrecking the small bolts on the therm. housing. it needs to be changed, maybe friOriginally posted by FiveFreshFish

When you change it, buy the OEM part! I went through two aftermarket thermostats that didn't open at the right temperature before I bit the bullet and paid $45 for the OEM. Trust me, you don't want to swap thermostats more than once.Originally posted by ecstasy_civic

see if theres a resistor somewhere behind the heater controls that u can adjust to crank the heat up...Originally posted by jdmakkord

Good luck! Hope your thermostat is easier to get to than the one on my old 91 Si.Originally posted by ecstasy_civic

We are here for fun, right?
It costs $45 bones for a OEM thermo??? Dammit...the ones at cdn tire are only 7 bucks hahah
Anyways - I've noticed my heat doesn't get as hot as it used to, but it still is pretty warm. Since it's been stated that a thermo either works or doesn't, could it be the old coolant?

$45 for OEM is not as bad as close to $100 for some aftermarket ones some people are spending.
