    Default tv out issues

I was planning on turning one of my older machines into sort of a media center pc so that i can play movies from my computer onto my tv. I used a standard component cable and hooked it up to the tv but the picture on the tv was all crooked and flickerd from time to time. When i played a movie the picture quality was pretty good but yet again the picture was all crooked and didnt even take up the whole screen. I tried playing around with the resolutions and still nothing.

The tv is about 3 years old, and the card that i was using for tv out is around 5 years old.

So i dunno whats wrong, is this normal or am i missing something?

Oh and the card also has svideo out, but i dont have a cable so havent had a chance to try it out.

    thanks

Correction, sounds like you're using composite (1 yellow RCA) and not component (3 RGB RCAs)

    How crooked, got a pic?

    Things to try:

    1) latest driver

    2) different/shorter cable

    3) lower resolution

    4) S-Video cable

When I had my TV out setup, the highest I could do was 800x600. Try 640x480, and work your way up from there.

Also, the S-video cable is a much better carrier for the signal.

yea sorry got confused, it was composite cable.

The resolutions i tried where both 800x600 and 640x480 with different cables on different tvs. One was a 32" and the other was a small tv something around 14" and the same problems. The picture was mostly crooked at the top right hand corner sort of like an S at the very top.

I'll take a picture of the tv and upload it when the batteries get all charged up for the camera.

Might see if i can find an s-video cable somewhere and try that option out too.

and yep drivers all up to date.
