Collant level is good. Poured some of that radiator leak stopper in it today... to stop a leak. Dont know if it worked... whatever. I think it may just be a crappy wire going to the fan...

so.. is it the fan that shuts off, or just the heat?

So it sounds like you are saying when your engine is cold the fan works, and then 5 minutes later when your engine is at normal operating temperature the fan stops working.

Tough to tell right off the bat what it could be, I'm thinking one of these circumstances:

    - once the engine gets to it's normal temperature, the heat it gives off may be overheating the fan assembly or doing something to the wires powering the fan

    - or perhaps the heat of the engine has nothing to do with it, and it's just an old fan that will work for only about 5 minutes then burn out until it cools down, then will work for 5 minutes next time you start the car.

Well I gave you a few possible causes, but I'm completely lost in giving you any solutions. Keep us posted.

If it's the ignition, wouldn't other accessories stop working too?

    Just a stupid question...
