    Default 180X Telescope

    I was about to buy a Telescope and found a cheap one thats 180X. What kind of stuff can you see from a 180X scope? any info would be great thanks

    180x should be enough to see Saturn and its rings, Jupiter and 4 of its larger moons, the moon's craters, and some of the brighter nebula. Venus has no real features, but you might be able to make out its phases. That's assuming it's a good quality scope.

    A telescope's MAXIMUM magnfication rating is always its best under optimal circumstances (ie: very dark and clear skies, no atmospheric turbulence, etc...). Magnification varies with eyepiece to eyepiece anyways. When a telescope advertises with its magnification level, they're usually shit quality anyways.

    If you have any more information like the brand, style of telescope (reflector, refractor, catadioptic), aperture/focal length/f-ratio, I may be able to provide you with more information or let you know if you're wasting your money or not.
