Your dad's company will be able to help you - they have to be involved in the whole procedure (Because I believe they need to demonstrate that there is a need for people outside the US to come and work).

If you qualify, you can get a TN-1 visa under NAFTA. You need to fall under one of a number of categories though. This is a 1 year renewable visa. If you want to stay longer, you can get an H1-B, which is good for 5 years but takes more paperwork and longer to get.

The TN-1 can be obtained at the airport before you get your flight. If you go for the TN-1, you need:

an offer letter from the employer
    resume
    proof of credentials
    USD$50 applciation fee.

With the H1-B, the company might need to demonstrate that there are no qualified applicants in the US. That means they have to advertise for a position, and "not find anyone qualified." This should be handled by the company's HR and lawyer.

You can apply for the green card separately, once you are already in.

If citizenship is what you're after that is another thing entirely... Is your Dad a US citizen? If he is, he can sponsor you, and you don't need to qualify for all the other stuff.

^^^ your parents don't have to be married for him to sponsor you. Unfortunately, the immigration lawyers are never cheap...

If you need to get in for work quickly, the TN-1 is the easiest to get. It is commonly referred to as the "Smile and Wave Visa" for a reason.
