Default Someone Please Help Me Fix my Serial Port

I have a data cable and i'm trying to set my cell phone up via my serial port.

The problem is that i've never used it before. Im trying to plug the phone in but it is not registering at all. It's like the phone or cable don't even exist.

I don't even know where to begin fixing this problem. Can one of you guys help walk me through it?

check the BIOS...the serial port may be disabled in there

if all else fails, try getting a usb cable for the phone/serial-usb adaptor
Friends don't let friends drive rice.

There is no replacement for displacement

chances are it sounds like you're waiting for it to autodetect ... yah that's not gonna happen with serial ..

and yah check your bios to make sure your serial ports is enabled .. and set for 3F8/IRQ4 (COM1), 2F8/IRQ3 (COM2).

so what you're gonna do is make sure you have the proper application for your phone .. and it's going to ask you what COM port your device is on... probably gonna be COM1 with the 9 pin connector .

then it''ll ask you a BAUD .. check the instructions on the phone and find either the default BAUD rate or a Settings Menu on the phone to reference or change the current BAUD rate.

    baud rates look like 2400, 4800, 9600, 19200, 38400, 56700, 115200

ha sheesh all this serial talk reminds me of my days at cisco
