    Default Steve Kan Tuning

    WHO WE HAVE : 3/6

    Boosted_TL - 1990 RX7 Turbo Vert
Boosteddsm - 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX
    TSi_neal - 1993 Mazda RX7 TT

    Hey,

I am looking into bringing up Steve Kan from Gotham Racing in Texas to tune my car. His price is $400 per car to tune and he needs a min of 5 cars. He is a rotary specialist and is world renound for his knowledge with tuning rotary's. I am just waiting for confermation if he will tune piston engines this time around. I would like to have 6 cars. If you like to be a part of this please post up. This will be towards the end of April. Its $400 for tuning cost's, but I am not paying for him to fly up here or for his food and accom. It will more likely be $600-$750 per person. That include's everyone splitting Steve's flight, his food, his tuning cost's and to rent out usage of a dyno for the Saturday and Sunday. There is a big margin between the twon, but this is all ball park for now. I will take care of a place for Steve to stay.

This may seem like alot, but you are paying for a guru and you can gaurantee your car in its best tune. And its because we a bringing him to us.

For more info on Steve Kan....please visit his webpage

I am sure Jaymez_STi and Tsi_Neal will be all over this !!

    Any questions please ask,

    Thanks

    Warren

^ I dont think anyone that owns an MK3 supra has any right to talk smack about an MKIV that isnt even theirs

What i actually wanted to say, is Warren you should post this info on the CDN forums at RX7Club.com Id assume that people from all over western canada would be happy to get in on this and there are alot more people looking over there than here.

Or better yet.. save yourself the money and learn to tune your own vehicle.. .. I will guarentee that whatever tune you end up at the end of the day, will end up needing change within a few months...

Unless spending $700 for a map that you can use as a base map is your kinda thing..

Yeah I know that, he sold it to Neal above. A real car? You mean a tank on wheels

    Neal,

I did a rough estimate from flying from Texas to Calgary and it was $650 return all in.

So if we do it for $600/car times 6 = $3600

$2400 for Steve's services and $1200 for Flight, Dyno time and misc.

That leaves $550 for the usage of a dyno for the day and his food and misc stuff for the weekend.

I hope a dyno would be about $350 and no more for a day ( 10 hours ) Thing is we might need to travel to subracing for the AWD dyno as the Eclipse is a GSX.

So all said and done, thats $200 remaining for misc stuff.

So its looking like $600 each. ( tentatively )

I may organize the RWD cars for here in town on the Saturday and the AWD in EDM on Sunday. I am not sure though. I dont really care to travel to EDM when I can dyno tune in town with my car.

Yeah, I will Neal. I am just gauging interest first as I knew you and James would be down. If thats the case we already have 4 and only need two more car's.

    Chris,

Valid point ! But a few things,

A - I am not willing to put $10 000 in a build and attempt to tune the car myself by trial and error. I ALWAYS learn the hard way.

B - Tuning is the most important part of modifying a car. I dont mind spending money on a safer setup to make it last.

C - Steve Kan is world renound ( I am sure you are aware of that ) there are guy's in town like Maxt that are very knowledgeable. But it all comes down to Steve Kan is one of the best and is willing to travel up here.

On the talon ive played with the tuning alot, and have gotten everything from the holy crap thats a good tune to the knockity knock tunes... but im comfortable doing the talon since i understand MAF setups fairly well and the motor is bullit proof.

the 7 I have countless reasons why id rather pay someone, especially someone like Steve Kan. The biggest reason is the motors are so fragile and Im not gonna pay 4-5K because i wanted to try something and it didnt work.
