problems with connecting camera to laptop

I'm trying to connect my digicam to my laptop and it's saying this:

USB device not recognized. One of the devices has malfunctioned...


Anyway, the cam is a Canon A 75 and it has been working since I got it and I was uploading pics all over Asia and what not. Anyway, the camera seems to be working fine, no probs, but the same thing happened when I tried to upload pics to my bro's laptop. It wouldn't recognize it. Any ideas? My buddy says that the cable might be fucked. anyway, let me know what you think. Thanks

HAHA. thats so funny i have the same camera and i always uploaded pictures to my computer from it.
yesterday i tried uploading pictures to the computer again and it didnt recognize it and it kept saying that no camera was connected.

the solution:
the lens cap, the little thing that twists off was not sitting properly, meaning it was not alligned with the mark on the camera. check that, cause after i alligned the mark on the lens with the mark on the camera it started working again..

if thats not it than i dont know...but i thought it was the wire too but it wasn't...good luck. let me know if it works.
