    Default Statefarm Insurance!

Ok guys, I am switching over to Statefarm, taking advantage of the good student and drivers ed discount.....its huge!

Anyway, I am 0.1GPA off the good student rate, that sucks but that is ok, it will be made up after next month......

As for the drivers ed discount, they said any AMA approved course......here is the thing, on the AMA website, there are all kinds of driver education, which one should I choose? I was thinking about the proactive/defensive driver course.....

Any inputs? I never took drivers Ed when i got my license 5 years ago

What is classified to them as the min discounted GPA mark anyways? I might call them up cuz my insurance is raping me.

    3.0GPA for Good Student
    And drivers education

The combined discounts will save me at least $125/month!

So I only pay high insurance for 1 month, but in reality, I am saving vs. Allstate anyway!

My parents were under statefarm and they had annual increases... In the end my parents switched over to TD.

Hey Sam, Check out HSBC Canadian Direct while you're at it. They're rates are one of the better ones out there.

Oh man, are you guys serious? But then, it seems like everyone's insurance is going up these days?

Well, right now, I am saving $650/year vs. AllState. After my discounts it will be well over $2000!

The guy I am dealing with right now is awesome, very thorough, very professional!

Sam get it in writing first. If he denies it then you have your proof not to trust them. Also check into that the day you sign up you need that 3.0gpa as insurance cant be adjusted till renewal.

Here is a trick call another state farm branch and ask them these questions and see if you get a different answer.

Yes, I will ask him.....but the quotes are identical to the ones on the website? So if it doesn't go up on the website, he can't really justify an increase?

He told me, he would adjust my premiums accordingly when I show him my grades/driver education certificate, which will be completed sometime next month.

    Sounds pretty legit to me?

its legit, i got that discount, the service is pretty nice as the guy know us by name. right now im only paying $40/6 months for the 2 car in my family as 2nd driver after drivers Ed and honor roll. and i dont think it has to be renewal time, i think they can do it whenever.

The most recognized driving school in North America is Young Drivers. I took it, and I have to say it has made me a very good driver. I have been collision free since I got my license, and the techniques they teach you help you to prevent accidents before they happen. It also incorporates a defensive driving program into their class so you get the added benefit of that as well.

I'm with statefarm and always have been. They were great while I was in school, but they just jacked my rates 20% for no reason - no tickets, no accidents, nothing . I knew rates were on the rise, so I figured a 5% and MAYBE 10% increase on my premium but 20% is friggin nuts. I'm considering switching to Meloche Monnex cuz I get 20% off their rates.

For the Good Student Discount, you have to bring a form to the registrar and they have some lady inside who checks your GPA and stamps the form. You send the form to Toronto if I remember correctly.

Interesting......well they are going to have to drop my rates before they raise it! Cause the chinaman I am, I'm outta there once I have to pay more for no reason! haha
