You gotta hear this song by Megadeth, off their "rust in peace" album. Its the solo starting at 3:08 in the song "Tornado of souls" its just wicked, the sound of it and everything. Seems like almost every song on that album has a wicked guitar solo, but that one stands out in my mind.

funny you say 4 horsemen, I believe Dave Mustaine wrote most of that solo before he got kicked out. Just for the record The song 'Mechanix' by megadeth is the real version of the 4 horsemen. Check it out.

    Cliff Burton by miles.

Metallica - Anesthesia - from Kill Em All

Maybe Bass guitar but the best solo I've ever heard on any guitar and that includes anything from Hendrix to Steve Vai.

One of my favorites is Led Zeppelin 1973 MSG, Since I've Been Loving You. Its on the new dvd. Remastered footage from the zep movie; The song remains the same

There are so many more, jimmy, jimmy, kirk hammet. Too many.

I think It's impossible to name mypick for "best guitar solo"....just like it would be for best song. I do however like particular guitar players who consistantly bring it!

    NO particular order:
    1) Eric Johnson - very smooth..he makes me sick
    2) Pat Metheny - not many play with more expression
    3) Satch - groove monster
    4) Jeff Beck - by far the best concert I've ever seen. Nobody plays like this guy. I like the fact that it takes me a couple months before I get what he is doing when a new album comes out.

    5) Alex Lifeson (Rush) just plain a weird dude
    6) Trevor Rabin (yes) very melodic
    7) Stevie Ray - the one and only

there are so many good, innovative players out there in all different styles.

Not bad. He has some skill in his picking hand. Although he doesnt use a pick. Believe it or not that not super difficult after you play alot of Latin style hand picking stuff. If you notice his Neck hand only did cords. Also easy at the relative 130ish BPM he was at, with only a few slight burst tempo changes.

    NOW my friends

http://www.deanguitars.com/angelo/ Watch in the upper right hand side. Video called Dual guitar solo. Its amazing an ambidextrous guitarist!

Also when done that Watch Speed Lives alittle bit down the page. Watch the whole video. Around 2miniutes in try to keep watching his Guitar neck hand. Its possibly the most insane shit ever. Watch how accurate he is. Enjoy.

EDIT: blasting off double time 32nd note triplets in a roughly 115BPM song is outa this world.

Michael Angelo is probably the fastest shredder there is heh. But IMO that doesn't define a great solo. It defines a very skilled player.

Here's some great non famous artist solos that legendboy sent me of some guy from Taiwan. Lots of cool and fairly unique techniques, and the entire song/solo just flows onto each other.

That whammy bar trick he does at 2:15 on the first link is pretty cool. First time I've ever seen it done.

I'm currently learning the 2nd song, he has all the tabs and backing track for you to learn on his site.

My favorite in song solo is "colorado bulldog" from mr.big

and for pure madness Paul gilbert of racer-x and mr.big is the craziest sweep picker of all time.

i dont think malmsteen or Angelo have anything on this....

    thats also just my opinion!

    you deside...

    Clicky!

and Rage 2, if you like Etudes check out Echo Etude from Yngwie Malmsteen. you`ll dig that.
