    motor/tranny/harness = 2500-5000 usd
    v3 kit - 10,000 cdn
    or
    nash kit - 5800 usd

that doesn't include labour, new parts like a clutch, and it keeps adding up.

    its not cheap

Your numbers are pretty close. I started with a nice '02 motor/tranny with low mileage and then added the V3 kit and lots of goodies (AFR, FAST, ARP, Katech, etc) but when it is all said and done I will have a car that is just right for me.

There is no way to do this swap correctly on a "budget" but it is cheaper than buying a new Z06

Should be a crazy ride. I've heard of another LS1 swapped one in Calgary that kills most cars on the roadcourse. Big torque/power with a solid chassis, what more could you ask for?

once you start adding on afr heads, fast intake manifold, etc. you can get even more expensive (cheapest i could find the fast intake is around $960 local) but it will make over 400 rwhp easy.

right now i'm just sticking to researching, and patiently waiting for the right parts to come along. installing an ls1 into an e36 would be nice (i even found a 318ti with no motor for $1000 us with lots of goodies) but in the end its much to pricey for me. but by november of this year i should be able to get a good shell for a less then insane price, and a chasis that is just as nice as an e36. either way you look, price of ls1's is dropping more and more, and the list of cars you can put them into with kits grow every day. should be a serious motor to watch out for in street cars in the next few years

    Swap is looking good Rob
When do you think it is going to be done? Someone told me it was done already and you had it outside tunerworks a while back, but I am assuming that was flase info.....

Hopefully my swap will be ready for summer and we can have a go

LOL, I only wish! My car has never been on the road with the LS1 but if I am lucky it will be ready by the time the snow and gravel is gone

Bring your 5.0L over when it is running!

Gona blow the little e30 out of the water.....

Oh well... will be good times...

I have seen this little baby up close.... It is very very nice. As always Robs cars are first class.

    Looking forward to rides LOL

Guys - don't forget all the little things outside of the engine bay that are needed for a swap like this. Support items for the motor. They too add up in the cost factor.

I need to get off my ass and get some KM's on the E30 LOL

Man, much respect to you. That will be a very fun car.

If I had the $, I'd do a LS1 into FD swap just because I love the Mazda looks so much.

    GREAT WORK!

I agree that the FD/LS1 combo makes for an amazing sports car

My machine is officially alive and sounding great! Early next week I will take it out and begin the process of engine tuning and break-in.

This has been a long project and I owe a huge thanks to the two local E36/LS1 guys who made it possible
