This is AWESOME! Finally an option for people that dont want to carry around an iPod and a phone and arent satisfied with ROKRs crappy storage.

US Modular is a company that is perhaps best known for its Monstor Drive. In sticking with its commitment to huge storage capacities in tiny packages, the company is now releasing the Stik&Stor solution for mobile phones, giving your everyday handset up to 8GB of additional space.

The press release cites the increased number of applications for cellular phones these days, with everything from MP3s and PDA functionality to portable video and mobile TV, coupled with the lack of significant on-board memory. The Stik&Stor solution addresses this issue by upping a phone’s capacity with a simple miniature external storage cell. It even comes with Migo syncing software to keep things organized and optimized. What’s more, you can bypass your phone’s operating system and access its internal storage directly.

Available starting this month, the 1GB and 2GB flash versions of Stik&Stor are $79 and $99, respectively, whereas the 4GB and 8GB micro drive versions are $149 and $199, respectively.

Stik & Stor Memory Upgades are compatible with all phones using a MicroSD or T-Flash connection, including (partial listing):

    Motorola V635 Motorola A1000 Motorola E1000
    Motorola E398 Motorola V1000 Motorola A840
    Motorola A780 Motorola V850 Motorola V710
Motorola V975 Motorola V980 Motorola ROKR

Does this change the fact that it takes a lot of time to load music onto Motorola phones?

Hopefully they are high-speed trans-flash cards. I would be happy to have more than the 512mb that I have in my V635i. Transfer rate is the big killer though. At 25 minutes to fill my 512 meg card, filling 8 gigs would really suck.

and on second thought an 8gb memory stick isnt worth 239.99+ CAD

you might as well spring another 100 and get an ipod that holds 20gigs

    just a thought

Looks like it's either flash or microdrive tie to a microSD adapter.

With Microdrive, your handheld will be thicker. And if you look at the pic, that data cable can be easily severed.
