My brother organized my stag a few summers back at an unnamed popular bar. Maybe 2 hours into the evening one of my buddies who came in from Spokane and is one of the most mellow guys (unless provoked) you'll meet. He came out of the bathroom and while squeezing by a crowd of people accidently spilled a 'regular' patrons drink. Before he had a chance to appologize I witnessed him being escorted out. I went outside to find out what happened when one of the pretty boy bouncers tossed me out just for being associated. Leaving me & my buddy outside while 15 other guys had no idea where we went. I asked repeatedly if I could go back inside to tell my friends what had happened as the only thing I've done wrong was ask why my friend was kicked out and these two bouncers were complete asses about the thing. After standing outside the bar for 20 minutes I & my buddie got tired of the bullying and told the bouncers that we were going back in to get our coats and if they got in our way we were going to take care of them. Since both guys knew they didn't stand a chance one on one with us the inevtitable six other bouncers come to thier rescue each frothing at the chance to gang up on two guys. I wasn't that drunk & stupid so better heads prevailed and they grabbed another friend and let him get our coats and tell the others. I've never been back to that bar and never will. We could have been hospitalized and probably would have lost any lawsuits based on us drinking and biased regulars testimony so you really can't win. Moral of the story is swallow your pride, take the high road and don't give the facilities your money ever again.

If youre creative, there are ways to be a jerk without getting in trouble. Buy a pack of stink bombs and break them all over the place and leave Make sure to get some right by the door where the bouncers stand all tough and theyll have to smell that shit all night. Im sure someone like GTS Jeff or Tyler883 will have some other ideas!

    Since you seek advice ....

my words of wisdom are ' stay out of bars ' . Yup , been there , done that , and you fellas gotta realize that if your fragile egos can't stand being around bouncers , don't hang out where they are .
Bouncers are doing there jobs . They are the hired muscle to keep things in order , and toss out those that are , or may become , a problem .
Funny how some folks get drinking and they can do no wrong , and it's always everyone else's fault for getting there ass thrown out of places . I've even seen staggering , belligerent drunks complain that bouncers have no rights to throw them out . WTF ????
As for those that automatically hate all bouncers , or folks that are authorative figures , grow up . Get over yourselves . They are just people . If you hate them for what they are , you should look at yourself and try and get help for it ( penis envy , lack of self confidence or any other emotional baggage you have . Your lives will be better for it .

Call the news stations and see if they'll pick up your story. Tell them that you're in the process of filing a police report but you're afraid it will just get swept under the rug. Tell them you don't want any money from them but you want to warn people about the violent uncontrollable bouncers at this bar and that you would like an appology.

Keep in mind if they do pick up your story the bar will make a comment about you being drunk and disorderly.

Are you a bouncer? While I know a couple and they are decent fellas that mainly do it for the women & perks. I would estimate that 70% are asholes on powertrips. What other job gives roid raged neanderthals a free pass to pound on people? I've never been assaulted by one but have seen lots of similar versions of this poster's story play out live. Sure some of these drunken bar patrons deserve to be thrown out but some of the beatings are totally unnecessary. How can you condone muscle bound (most of the time) sober men beating helpless drunks? Penis envy? How could anyone envy guys that aren't man enough to go one on one with alot of these people yet instantly get tougher when four or more of his comrades are present?

I'm 24, I don't drink, I don't look threatening, I don't hang out with rough looking people, I don't have an attitude, I don't hate bouncers and I'm a pretty friendly guy… and I’m white (comes into play with comments below)

Yet even I’ve found many, I would go as far to say most, bouncers I’ve encountered in this city are assholes, and racism is common at the door (although probably coming directly from ownership/management).

Your comment about bouncers being authority figures is funny to me. I honestly think that is the real problem. Bouncers know the fill a fairly low place on the totem pole of life and the ones that don't have a chance at something better try to gain a sense of power and control at work. Similar to an assembly line worker feels powerless at work then goes home to beats his wife.

You may have the right to get people to leave the bar but if a bouncer causes an unprovoked assault that is and should be dealt with by the CPS. Have you ever noticed how drunks are dealt with at sports games -- they are forced to leave without a physical attack. I realize that you're probably the type of person I was referring to in my last paragraph so your mindset is somewhat understandable.

Ill say about 60% of the bouncers do their job fabulously. Most of them honestly do. Most of them are really nice guys, but you do get the power tripping ego assholes.

See, if i owned a club (wish i did haha) id have 3 guys at the door. 2 huge ass bouncers who dont do anything at all really. and 1 smaller, more approachable guy, checking id's talking to people, etc. Somebody with charisma.

Also if therse a drunk in the bar have that guy tell the drunk to leave, he doesnt, thats when the other, bigger guys step in.

Wildcat is/was a bouncer in lethbridge i believe. I'm sure, because hes a fairly big/muscular guy that lots of other guys get this "peacock syndrome" where they need to feel bigger than him just because they are threatened by him. Maybe so, maybe not, just my theory.

Just my thoughts is that if you have a more charismatic, approachable guy that doesnt look like he wants to throw your face into the wall it'll be a bit more comfortable for patrons.

In Jesus' case, the smaller guy i was talking about would be able to calmy approach the situation, talk to Jesus (assuming he was a coherant patron and not a slobbering drunk) and find out exactally what happened. And instead of literally tossing somebody out of the bar, maybe in a more tactful manner, ask them to leave (letting them inform their friends, get their jacket, etc).

But thats all in a perfect world.

I have know many too , and worked with a few over the years . I've had friends who've managed bars over the years , and have seen both sides of the story . Also , a good friend and ex-roomie is a local drummer in a band , and over the years we've shared many a drink and watched many a idiot .

How many times do I gotta repeat myself . THIS IS THEIR JOBS . They are hired by managment to keep 100% control of the situation . Do you even realize how many 5 foot fuck-holes weighing 140 pounds wet walk into bars and after several doubles think they are superman ??? MOST !!
Bouncers are big because management like to intimidate the crowd . Management also knows that if things become out of control in their bar , they will be looking for work in no time , and if BIG SHIT goes down and the mediagets on it , it will mean BIG trouble . This is why it's so important to respond quickly and with a show of power .

Again , a bar isn't a fighting ring . You're NOT there to try and prove what a hero you are by being a tool . If you have issuses with your manliness , and a need to prove to the ladies your a tough guy , try NOT drinking and acting like a lounge lizard . Or better yet , work out and become more confident about who your are , not hate about what you ain't . Capeesh ????

It' true . You aren't just kicking some asshat out , you're sending a message to all his buddies and the rest of the crowd that there will be little or no tolerance for asshattedness .
If you didn't , over time things could get ugly pretty fast .

I do work out, I am very strong and confident. That's why alot of bouncers wouldn't take the chance at going one on one with me. I haven't been in a fight for at least ten years and never go looking for it. Their job is to keep order, REMOVE rowdy patrons not gang up and beat on drunken people that can barely walk. I've seen it all and unless the drunk pulls out a weapon or starts throwing punches there is absolutely no reason to beat him sensless yet it happens all the time.

I only hate assholes and unfortunately many bouncers fit that bill. Capeesh????

    This thread is fairly funny.
A lot of bars now have Pay-duty officers to cut down on problems. Saves doormen a lot of hassels.
