Windows Defender is pretty good, made by Microsoft and it's free for the time being as far as Antispyware goes. For anti-virus my personal favourite is Kaspersky, but i'm using Windows Onecare right now to try it out.

I've been using Norton Internet Security 2005 for a while and I havn't had a single problem. I used to have Norton System Works which I think brings a lot more useful programs. The only problem I had with norton internet seciruty was on the beyond.ca page but thats because I had ad blocker turned on.

been using the free AVG the past 3-4years and never got a virus.
and when a torrent file I downloaded had trojan in it, AVG detected it.

best anti-spyware would have to be Windows Defender, but you need a real copy of WinXP

windows defender is garbadge. I work with computer all day long as a tech and I tell you that defender is not that good. It will find some things but it definately not find everything. Problem is there isn't one single program that will find everything. At work I use Ad-aware+spybot+webroot spysweeper+spyware doctor to remove spyware and hijackthis to reomve traces left over and stop programs from running that u don't want to run combine with msconfig. Spyware Doctor has really impressed me, after i use adaware and spybot + webroot it still found 600 traces today on one of the clients machines. For antivirus I use Freeav, download it at freeav.com very good program and finds a ton more stuff then norton ever will. Norton is pure crap most of the times, it is a target of many viruses and spyware, so if it can't protect itself how the hell can it protect your system. I see 10+ machines a day with fucked up norton because everyone goes after them and they are too slow to respond. Plus did I mention is a huge resource hog. For removing virusees at work i use freeav plus panda active scan (online scanner) for my personal computer at home I use Panda titanium + antispyware. no complaints so far. Hope that helps a little. all in all no one program does it all, need to use a bunch to clean it good

I've been using AVG free version for years and it's worked perfectly with no bugs at all!!

I run it with the Zone Alarm free version...

Why spend money when the free stuff stuff works

I've tried Norton stuff before....its f'n evil...it sticks its evil tentacles and tendrils into every corner of your computer and can cause all kinds of problems.

    me
    no anti-virus
    no anti-spyware

I dont use any of that garbage, I just don't click on random links and watch what websites I go to. I don't dowload mp3's and movies and games that are filled to shit with infections.

I also format once a month. I have never had a problem with infections EVER.
