    Default Psu Q

What is the smallest PSU available locally and for cheap (around 80ish)? This is smallest I could find on my own: http://www.memoryexpress.com/index.p...ctID=5383&SID=

Also, is it possible to extract the components of a PSU and run them outside of the PS casing? By possible I mean is it relatively safe to do so. I'm trying to jam a computer into an xbox case. MiniItx of course, minus the mini PSU... too weak and expensive... I know the casing acts as a heat sink as well, but I can easily work in some additional fans... Let me know what you guys think. Thanks in advanced for the replies.

You should ask them about Shuttle XPC Power supplies... they're smaller then the microatx counterparts and recently started putting out about the same amount of power.

The smallest you can get is a power brick (I suppose the pico-PSU is smaller).

If you're trying to cram a computer into your XBox, why not just format the XBox with Linux... that's far easier.

the xbox is a pc...just put a different bios on it so you can load linux. you can even add a 2nd hard drive on the dvdrom cable.

Those are both pretty reasonable suggestions... but I honestly don't have too much confidence in the system specs... I mean, can you really decode video on a machine w/ only 64mb of ram? Even if it is under linux... I don't even have a complete working xbox, just the case...

How well does Linux run in the xBox anyways? I don't know too much, but I am guessing it's quite limited in its application...

I'm aiming for more of a Multimedia setup, I'll be using the EPIA 10000 board from Via.

Use ViA's new ITX, it's UBER small. Although if you want more power the Epia is a good choice (yay for 1gHz :/ )

probably pretty dangerous to open up a PSU and try to run it without its case...
