donno. i'm worried the 3M won't stick to the carbon hood. getting hood 3M'd tomorrow morning so i guess i'll find out then.
I'm getting a 3M'd grill hahahaa
no. haha. i called shadow tinting and they siad they have a precut kit for my car. so made a appointment to get it put on tomorrow morning. to think about it, it should be the same cause the precut kit comes with pieces for the mirror and grill too which is abs plastic. i'll just bring my car in and they can deal with that. haha.Originally posted by Superesc
did you tell them your hood is cf?
yea it should be fine, from what I know there's 2 type of 3mSG, Matt and Gloss, gloss is better.
Shadow does precut kits so they don't have to run knife edges on your paint. Got them to do my car a few months back. They did a pretty good job.
the 3M stuff seems pretty thin so i really question how well it holds up to rocks. oh well. i guess i'll have to see.. lol.
dude, pick up your damn grill.... before i decide to keep it. hahahaha.Originally posted by Fuji

it should hold up well since it was originally designed for prop blades for small aircraft. Did you end up going to the north or the south location?
There is a new product called ricochet made my avery that is supposed to be better than 3M. how much is shadow charging you for the hood, mirror and grill?

On my 3m'd bumper, I have 2 rock punctures, but good news is the bumper underneath is not damaged so the 3m IS doing its job! I still have rock chips on the front bumper where there is no 3m though, but oh well.Originally posted by 2000impreza

the list price for the 3M kit(96-00 impreza) was $160. i got a discount which came up to $145 installed.
errr...... i think its time to go outside and throw some rocks at the hood... see how strong this stuff really is... hahaha. jk jk

It's designed to absorb impact but to absorb higher impacts it does have to puncture some. It's good stuff. After 3 or so years (winter driven) you might have to get to replaced due to punctures being more noticable because they are kinda 3d. That and I notice that the sun can discolor it too over time. But still a very worth while investment, especially on carbon fiber as it chips different than paint on metal.Originally posted by kenny

anyone know how much a custom job would be for an entire front bumper?
there is a precut kit that includes hood, mirrors, and fenders that cost $210 for the 5th gen lude. you might want to call them and ask about custom 3M for the bumper. here is the website http://www.shadowtinting.com/
