Default Please recommend a honda performance engine shop

    Hi All,

I have a supercharged 98 Honda Prelude. It did poorly on a leakdown test and Reg Reimer suggested a rebuild. I likely want to upgrade some of the internals to crank up the boost as well, sleeves etc.

Any suggestions on an engine shop that has done Hondas, especially H22A's??????

    Edmonton or Calgary are options.

    Thanks,

    Rorn

Speetech doesn't do any internal work, short of swapping cams and heads. Try Percise Engine Builders in Calgary for the machine work.

There is no one in this town that can build a decent honda motor for you.

Speedtech uses some company out of Kelowna BC. Correct me if I'm wrong.

They did an awesome job on redlines Integra.

I'm with Freakin on this one, Precise Engine Rebuilders - talk to Peter. He assembled my shortblock H22a4-turbo (cuz I was lazy), they do excellent, warrantied work.

If you plan on sleeving, strip the block down and send it to the states to have it sleeved by the sleeve manufacturer/retailer (AEBS, Golden Eagle, Darton, Benson). It is well worth the investment shipping it there to be done right and warrantied.

You're talking about Okanagan Engine rebuilders. Speedtech sent my B20 to them. They did a horrible job and I paid an arm and a leg for it. I only had 4,000KM on my motor and the sleeves cracked (it was NA). The bearings they used were a cheap aftermarket brand that have galled up in that short amount of time (likely it wasn't clean enough, but still that's pretty bad) and for the price I paid, the easily could've used OEM pieces. Top all of that off with very bad customer service while my engine was there and afterwards. They also built a motor for Speedtech that had a sleeve fall out while it was being warmed up. I wouldn't go near that shop again. And STRONGLY recomend against using them.

Check with my recomendation above. They've done 2 motors for me since and I've couldn't be happier. Peter is the guy you want to talk to at Percise. He's a Honda guy and knows his shit with them. Legendboy uses them as well, and has has good results.

Lovely, so even they are crap hey...LOL.

I recall redline having speedtech do sleeves on his orginal motor and a sleeve dropped, but it was done by a local shop that speedtech used. Then the 2nd motor was done by the guys in BC and all was good.

I recall Legendboy saying that the one guy that knew what he was doing at Precise retired.

Oops, looks like i got my info wrong. I was under the impression that the bad sleeve was done by them. Either way, I wasn't happy with the work they did for me.

I wouldn't send anything to Okanagan.. talk to Brad (XES) @ speedtech about his h23 sleeving experience with them..

Taking all my domestic work to D&W Custom Engines, with high recommendations from some quick machines in Calgary. They also do alot of import work so you may want to give them a phone call and see what they can do for you.

Then again, why waist your money on sleeving a block when you can buy a race ready block from Dart already.

Aren't they super heavy? I thought they were steel, not aluminum.
