H&R Block is garbage.
If you're taxes are straight forward and you don't have to deal with moving expenses and shit like that buy quicktax and do it yourself.
Tim
H&R block 'accountants' are useless. You'll probably end up paying close to the same with a real accountant. Quicktax is so easy to use, even with moving expenses and extra income.
I still have 4 netfiles on my QuickTax left to go if you wanna split the cost.

sob i wish i was eligible for student
one year i was and got just about $3500 back
this year i'll be LUCKY to get near $1000 i think
is quicktax really that easy? i don't think it should be too difficult.i moved from bc to alberta, i hope that doesn't affect it too much ??

Are you self-employee or own a small business?
Do you have any dependents?
If no to all of the above, quicktax would take care of it for you.
If yes, you should talk to an accountant to at least try to learn from him/her before filing yourself next year.
did you move from BC to AB for work?
If so, I hope you kept all of the receipts related to your move. There are quite a lot of expenses that you can claim: charges for cancelling/setting up utilities and services, meals, taxi/transpo, i think the cost of changing your driver's liscence and other car-related things, etc.
An accountant will know exactly what can and can't be claimed as well as know all of the little tricks to claim as much as possible.

I get my taxes done at Alberta E-File.
I got a $9800.00 tax return this year.
H&R block is lame, I went there once and I said never again, $70 for 5 minutes of work? No thanks, I just use Netfile and Quicktax now, taxes take 30 minutes of my time. and it cost me $15 to use Web based quicktax....
Ufile.ca is also good... takes like 30 mins online and is free if you are a student or make under 25 G's
I went to H&R Block, and he did my taxes and gave me my money right there. Only cost $25 to do it and i recieved 1600 back being that im a student

My dad is an accountant so he just does the taxes. I wouldn't have a clue in the world what to do haha!
I got mine done at a private palce up here. Cost $100 I am getting just over $1000 back, so now should I either buy something for the car, or pay off bills?
i did my own.
well my mom did it for me.
I bought quicktax this year and it gives me 5 reports that I can file over $25k, and unlimited amount under that, so If you want to save some cash, and your return is straight forward, PM me, bring a couple beers and you can do it here.
My parents use quicktax to do my taxes too.
Hey what's this "moving expenses" stuff? I can claim $$ I spent when I moved? Even though its moving w/in calgary?
