A cap won't do anything for that application.

There is no quick solution to providing more power to the inverter other than than basics: better alternator and better battery.

caps only provide power for a short time(seconds) when there is a need for high amperage

you need a decent alternator, about 65 amps i belive, and one of those inverters they sell at canadian tire, get about 250-300 watts.

computer in a car is a great idea, you can play games like all the PS2 installs, and dvds, and music, and have a navigation system, among other things.
been lookin at that project for a while now

    65amps?
    haha

most stock car alternators are around 80 amps
~60amps are used by the car in normal operation with every accessory running, and there is a 20amp provision generally for future accessories(stereo, etc)

20amps aint much to work with

I had it installed on a test run. Started u8p fine for about 10 min then inverter would shut down because of low power from the battery.

Also the alernator was too hot to touch.

so I was guessing that the alternaror was workin too hard to power the battery...

    Computer Specs..

    Durron 800 MHZ
    128 MB SDRAM
    4 MEG VID card
    keypad
    PsOne LCD

sound is hook into the deck.

You don't need a cap if you want to install a computer in your car... it's freaking only 300-400W of power and it's not even using all of it, so it's probably realistically around 200W... Most aftermarket decks are about 200W and you don't see people hooking up moster caps to stabilize their system!!! Plus computer's run on pretty much constant current unlike higher end stereo ampifiers.

It depends on your computer case power supply. If it's rated at 300W, then a freakin 300W inverter ain't gonna do you any good... In electronics, always account for 50-100% more juice than you really need.
