When I picked up my DV1420, it was a great deal. $1100 shipped/taxes in for it. Viewing angles not as bad as you state, but who is really going to be watching movies on a 14" laptop when its not right in front of you? Spec wise, 1.6 now at 2.13 with the pin mod, 1 gig of ram, 80 gig, etc. Price was the main consideration, sure I could have gotten something alot better for $500 more, but where does it stop? If the budget wasn't around it would have been the new Asus 14.1" with a core duo and X1600, but I opted to buy one now and wait for the Core Duo 64's. It all depends on the person.Originally posted by EZTop
Why is everyone so stuck on HP/Compaq? LOL They are the worst of the worst for computers.
I have used their new DV line for a couple days (loaner) (in slicks link) and the viewing angles on the LCD are absolutely terrible. You sit right in the centre of the screen, you will notice the edges darker than the centre. Move your head closer to the edges and that area becomes brighter LOL. And vertically, move your head 2cm and you will see just how bad the viewing angles are.
MacKenzie, dont mean to be rude, but Computer trends is not exactly the best/safest place to buy from. Ive known people who bought stuff from them awhile back, stuff goes wrong and they simply wont care once they get your money.
Go to memory express or order online and get a BUilt on ASUS> You want 14.1''? Get the Z63A. Its an amazing model. You can get it for about $1350. Custom build with what you want. The build on it is top notch, business line quality, and Compaq/HP wont even compare to them when it comes to this aspect. Compaqs feel very plasticky.
