    Default usps

Where do packages go that are shipped here thru usps? Last time I used ups, they bent me over pretty badly, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth (thats right they got me that good...ha) So I am going to use usps, but I just started thinking, do they have a depot, or is it right to your house? Its odd ups expected me to be home with a shit load of cash it seems, but I was never around when they "say" they were here.. so I went to the depot, ups 2 points, me 0.. but thats the final score for those dicks...

VERY handy if you aren't home during the day. I hate when f*ing couriers try drop off at noon every day and then take it to the depot. With Canada post you just head over to the closest postal outlet.

The product cost. Customs assesses the value of the goods being shipped and tacks a charge (gst & duty). USPS only charges a 5.00 flat brokerage, which is very cheap.

Only issue with USPS/Canada Post is time.. I often wait weeks for items to clear customs.. I'm heading down to the border from now on and picking up my packages from Sweetgrass..

You not having it shipped right then, I just got something through USPS and it took 6 days to get here. If you use regular USPS it takes a while for sure, I pay the little extra for parcel express.

USPS is the shit, I've been using them for years with ebay shopping, never had a problem. surprisingly low brokage fee and their Priority Express or GLobal express service is very good.

I think if ther person sending it mark the cost as $40 and gift thne you dont have to buy GST/Duty.

Tried it dozens of times, buying cellphone off ebay for USD $400, tell them to mark it as gift and worth $100 ( the max insurance amount of Priority Express w/o buying extra insurrance ) and usually i only end up paying like $9 @ the door.

UPS is my arch-nemisis. Why do people use them? They honestly suck golf balls through garden hoses on a consistent basis. I always try to get out of using because, mainly because they stiff you hard at the border. USPS is great with stuff from the states.

That's mostly GST and a $5 brokerage/administration fee. The size of the package doesn't matter; it's the value that counts.

    $460 USD = $533.60 CAD (at 1.16 exchange)

    $533.60 x 7% = $37.35

    $37.35 + $5.00 = $42.35

Seems reasonable to me. Just remember that if you had bought your stuff retail in Canada, it would have been subject to GST. So you're stuck with GST in most cases.
