Do you really think that Calgary was the first city to come up with partying in the streets after a sports team wins?Originally posted by 88CRX
Holy come up with your own shit fuckin' greasers.
Congratulations, Edmonton!
I'm with you all the way( unless you go up against Calgary )
What a bunch of pansies. The Red Mile is king! Whyte doesn't even stand a chance.
"This is much better than the Red Mile," said Janelle, 22, who was with the Calgary fans there Saturday night. "It's more packed."
Yea... that amke sit much better
Tear gas already? That sucks.
Anyway we all know we want to see Flames Vs. Oilers!
I honestly think people are going to be hospitalized if the battle of Alberta comes about. A buddy of mine got his ass kicked at The Den of all places, a few months back, for wearing an Oilers jersey. It's going to get messy me thinks. Real messy.

^I heard the cops were inflating the numbers to 30,000, and that bar owners along whyte said they saw pics of the red mile after game 5 and to say whyte had anything close to 17th was a joke, and they had maybe 8000-10000
try hards
thats nothing compared to last years fireworks contest in vancouver, over 1 million people filled the streets
anyways, it apears the war has begun...
I still don't see a problem .. I was wearing Oilers Jersey for watching Flames' games .. going to pub .. etc .. and saw few other jersey from Oilers .. Canucks .. Leafs .. it was FINE!

That's great!! It's a spoof of a song by The Proclaimers-I would walk 500 miles...haha they are a Scottish band.
Whoever did that song, even tried to get the accent somewhat similar to the Scottish accent. blimey!

Whyte mile, Klondike days, Edmonton needs originality asap
I'm assuming Klondike days is their version of the Stampede? (I'm not from this province, so I'm just assuming here...) But every city has their own exhibition week, I don't see the problem with Klondike days... Regina has Buffalo Days, Saskatoon has The Ex... But yes the Whyte Mile or Kopper Kilometer is quite the spoof... silly Edmonton... but hey... at least they're still in the playoffs. Might as well cheer for an Alberta team.Originally posted by z06power

Edmonton has always had an inferiority complex when it comes to anything Calgary. I read the stories the the Edmonton police said there were 30000 people on White Ave but bar owners said that was BS and there was maybe 6000 max and you couldn't even fit half that number (30000) of people on White Ave. Even the Edmonton police force have the same complex purposely inflating numbers to try to match Calgary.Originally posted by z06power

There was an Edmonton fan on the TSN blogs saying that he was at Game 1 of the Flames/Ducks and game 3 of the Oilers/Wings and that Rexall was twice as loud as the dome and the atmosphere was way better. Under his post a guy quotes the same Oilers Fan one hour earlier posing in an Oiler thread how he turned off his TV in the second period of Oilers/Wings game three. These guys have to result to lying to make themselves feel better all the time. I'm happy for Oilers fans right now as the Greasers deserved to get where they are now but their fans aren't showing much class.
I shrug it off as typical Edmonton. The only city in the world that has the gaul to name itself the 'city of champions'. A city with a football team that cheated to win the Grey Cup. They should change their welcome sign to "City of the Insecure".
ohh wow, I never realized Calgary was the first city to ever party on the streets, or to have a fair in the city.
I do agree that Edmonton should be more creative with the name, but I mean comeon, it's just walking down the street and drinking, who cares what its called, just get drunk and bring the cup back to Alberta.
Nice generalizing. Actually Calgary was the first to have a specific one mile of road full of people in red that partied after every playoff game.Originally posted by Pee_Sack

The fair part has merit but calling a spade a spade Klondike Days it's really nothing more than a poor man's stampede. You never saw Calgary build a massive mall did you? Calgarians really don't care about Edmonton that much & what they do but Edmonton always tries to 1-up Calgary. That's the way it is and the way it's always been.
Uh oh..
