there was a recall on most early 90's 4runners because of a head gasket problem.

I came down to Calgary (from Edmonton) to pick up a hilux and the second I took posession of it, boom, the head gasket went.

I don't have any issue with the steering anway. I've checked with Toyota, they said that the recall was for the something for the steering. And they would check and fix it at no cost even if you are not first owner.
