Anyone know what the starting wage is for a teller and if you apply through the company or if I should apply at the individual branches?

im pretty sure first calgary was $10.50 or something for a teller there.
thanks for the quick reply, anyone know the best approach to take to apply?
I know that internets the best way for CIBC then they give you a phone interview.
The wrong way to do a phone interview...
Q: "So why do you want to work for CIBC?"
A: " I want to steal as much money as I can!"

12.80 start at TD
trying is the first step towards failure
I work at Scotia bank. I started at 13.16
They start at 12 or 13-ish. Seriously best way is to apply online, although you might be a little late because they do alot of part-time hiring using students during the summer, and those positions (i.e. teller) are (from what they tell me) filled in like april. Good luck though, Apply online
Dont bother applying online for teller positions, they all hire in-branch for that position. It will take forever to get a call from online apps. Just go into each branch dressed well (hopefully you have the background to warrant applying) and talk to the manager. You will have a job asap.
you really dont want to work for CIBC they start at just under 10 i think the lowest in town and you get treated like a dog
Solid Gino......
Yes CIBC sucks, I went to an interview and left half way through. Scotiabank, First Calgary or ATB would be the best
Wrong, most banks including CIBC and ATB do all their hiring online. If you walk into a CIBC or ATB, they will very likely take your resume in person and instead leave it to the online recruiters. TD is hurting for tellers real bad right now (haha and I am quitting). There are vacancies for the position everywhere. We once had a applicant just walk in and try and talk with our manager, long story short it failed miserably.. we all laughed and she was given a 2 page application that she would have to fill out and attach her resume to. mission accomplished? I think not.Originally posted by creeper

Wrong as well, many banks don't have time for interested applicants to just walk into a branch and talk to the manager about a position. Many banks are extremely busy, and don't have/want to waste time without screening. At best, you might get the person at the front desk to talk to you, but you won't get an appointment with a manager. They need to screen you first on the internet and then over the phone. Online right now IS the way to go. I applied online for a job at ATB using their resume builder and I got a call back the next day for an interview time.Originally posted by cde48

I phoned up a few branches and asked if they were looking for tellers and got call backs from ALL the branches I asked. This is for TD, I got a job in a week. So your statement of "Wrong", is 'wrong'. just ask to talk to the teller supervisor, and if he needs bodies, taking a 30 min interview isn't too bad on slow days. Just make sure you don't call on the 15th or 30th of the month when they're extremely busy.Originally posted by canadian_hustla

ATB starts at 13/hour
I work at the Scotiabank call centre and it starts off at around 13 bucks an hour here. Like everyone else has stated, applying online is the best way to go. It saves you time and all of the effort of going around to each branch. I applied online for my job and I got a call back within a week.
Everything I'm not made me everything I am...
I applied online and got a call the next day
