I got into a car accident and agreed to pay for the damages myself. The lady has got me two quotes and i'm gonna pay her. Is there any paperwork to cover myself from future claims??

I've heard that you need the other party to sign a letter stating that this payment covers all damages to the car, as well as personal injury claims.

I've been on the giving end and receiving end of paying cash outside of insurance for minor accidents. Both times, it was a simple cash deal. I pay the guy or he pays me and that's that. No forms, no paperwork, nothing.

I haven't run into trouble yet. But I'm sure that if you run into the wrong person, they'll find a way to scam you. Lots of people out there without integrity.

That why if you settle out of insurance, at least write this up, print 2 copies and have both parties and witness(es) sign.

Actually, belive it or not!!!!!, contact your insurance company and tell them hat has happened. They will actually have forms that you can fill out and have have the other person sign. So long as you aren't claiming, they really don't care too much.

Makes sense to me, so long as these forms are signed, I'd like to see the other person try to get money from the insurance company.

    No chance of scams.

You are going to tell your insurance company you got into an accident? Wouldn't it be dead easy to update your record that you had an accident and then hello higher rates?

They dont care unless you make a claim.

The people answering the phone arent worried about what your rates are vs. your driving skill.... they probably care more about there next coffee break.

^^^ yeah this means nothing if anything it is best to do this, i was in a accident somebody backed into me and the guy found out how much it was gonna cost and then he didnt want to pay after we both agreed no insurance. so my dad (cause car was under his name) called the insurance company and told him that we are settling outside of insurance but i will let you know if he does not pay. he if did not pay outta his pocket insurance will fix and thats that. and he will get billed next time he renews his insurance. they do nothing unless you make a claim and they have to pay, they pay=you paying the next year. they knowing=shit to them
