Default Help Me Choose - Audi A4 3.2 or BMW 330I

Hey People, I need some help choosen between new '06 Audi A4 3.2 Quattro or the BMW 330I.

With the options I want they come in about $600 from each other, so price isn't a major factor.

The Audi has a little more HP and Torque and it's AWD...

The BMW handles slightly better and well... it's a BMW...

Residual value doesn't mean anything are the car will be leased (the company is paying ).

I've tried the Lexas IS250 AWD and the IS350, I've tried the MB C230 Sports and I've tried the Acura TSX. All are good cars, but to me they don't measure up to the Audi or BMW.

Here is a picture of each, in case you don't know what they look like!

I should also say that I need to have a four door only, thus no G35...

Do you need 4 doors? If not, I would go into BMW and pre-order a BMW 335i.

Else, I would take the 330 over the A4.

The AWD in the winter isn't that much better than the 330 with dedicated winter tires. DSC and ASC are really good. The only time AWD is better is if you are on a REALLY steep hill and you are on ice. In terms of stability, I feel slightly more reassured in the 330 than I do the STi.

I saw a red 330i this morning and thought to myself: "I could see myself in that car."

In this case. BMW hands down. I the new 3-Series.
IMO it's the one car that was NOT totally screwed up by their h0m0 designer.

Agree! even 335i will be more $$ .. but .. oh .. will be a super sweet car .. and will be even as quick as Audi S4

Great RWD set up + snow tires = no problem for Calgary's winter ..

RWD 330i is ~15% better on gas then A4 V6 and quicker ..

I've driven both on the track at a test and I would say the Audi has more pull and pure speed. It's close but the Audi has more brute power.

That being said the BMW is slightly lighter and handles better.

According to the website the Audi is 0-100 Kph in 6.6 seconds vs. the BMW at 0-100 in 6.7 seconds.

Um...the G35 does come in a 4 door...is this just because you visually would prefer the G35C over the sedan? but Benyl is correct if you can wait until Fall this year the revised G35 sedan looks like a big step up on the current in terms of luxury, quality and looks. An engine > 300 hp is definitely not bad either.

So besides Benyl & C4S insights (thanks Guys, you make a good argument) does anyone else have a suggestion or comments?

The 335I would be a fricken fantastic car, but it's also major $$$, it would add $20,000 to the price tag.

I think that would the answer right there, is it worth $20,000 more than the Audi? Go for the Audi, and get some big ass rims and a winter beater with the extra $20,000

The original comparison was between the Audi A4 3.2 and the BMW 330I, they are about the same price give or take a $1,000.

does Audi still have 4 years of service? That may be another consideration. BMW only has 3 and you basically go in once a year. (I do an oil change myself at 6 months on the BMW).

Audi does, but only on the 2006 models. They are discontinuing it for the '07 models.

Part of the reason why I need to make my mind up soon.

BMW has 4 yr no charge service now .. I am not sure if Audi still do 4 yr no charge service, I heard they are going to cut it down .. ?

From actual test ( 6 speed ) Audi V6 did 0-60mph in 6.3 second, and 5.6 second for 330i ( as compare, G35 is 5.6 as well, and IS350 is 5.3 ) however, since the engine from 330i is much smoother, and with longer wheel base, A4 may feel quicker, anyway, they are close .

If you are going to buy the A4, you better buy the 2.0T, it is not much slower then the V6 ( 7 second ) and much cheaper ..
