Sorta like Futurama. From the start Fox wasn't really behind it all the way and a lot of their episodes were being pre-empted because of football games. In fact, Matt Groening is very bitter about Futurama being cancelled:

FG got cancelled strictly because of the God Botherers and the"Moral Majority". The ratings were always on the 'pretty darn good' side.

The do-gooders started to petition to advertising companies that they would stop buying their stuff if they advertised during FG. That got FG off the air way quicker than if Fox just canned it.

Notice that every time they came back they got filthier and filthier?

I miss Greg the Bunny too. That had some serious crude and downright mean stuff on it too. Heh. "Tardy the Turtle". I peed myself.
