Question about selling one car and buying another:

If i sell my car which has insurance and registration on it ....is there a grace period that i can simply put my old plate on my new car till i get to the insurance place or registration place???

Call your insurance company for a temporary pink slip then you can switch the plate over and notify registerie's within 14days.

You can't transfer plates over to another car even with temp insurance in Alberta. You'll need insurance on the new car, temporary pink slip, then hit up a registry to either register it and get a new plate, or buy a temporary transit pass if for whatever reason you can't register the new car yet (such as pending out of province inspection, or RIV paperwork for US cars, etc.)

So if I am waiting for my RIV paperwork and my temp 7 day transit license expires, do I need another temp transit pass to get from my house to Canadian Tire for the inspection? Or can I slap on my old plates and do the inspection then properly register the vehicle?
