Default Nissan 240sx SR20det Engine Swaps

Hey everyone im gonna be swapping an SR20 motor/tranny into my 240sx, and i was just wondering what different people had to say.
    Mainly -
Places that do quality jobs, and what it cost you? were the prices reasonable and engines reliable and what can you expect to go wrong with your engine
Specifically - People who have the s14 notchtop engine how many kms is it reasonable to get one with?
    any help is greatly appreciated!

i would suggest Alvins automotive in SE Calgary. I got my swap done there. He works on high end car. and does not charge an arm / leg. honest also.
Also when you are concidering a swap make sure you think for long term. After you swap you willl need more power or you will be bored so....

Do you have somewhere you could do it yourself? It's a pretty simple swap, plus you'll save about a grand.

just be careful on the engine..i have seen quite a few engines go in only to have them start knocking or other problems within a matter of months...can never be sure on the condition of the engine or mileage...why not turbo the ka??

^ On the same note be sure to check the clutch and the turbo BEFORE installing the motor. It's a PITA to install these when the motor is in.

In respone to 85regal I would never invest in the KA engine talk about a boring ride!!! redlines at 7000 rpm but its pretty much pointless to go past 5500 rpm as theres no torque anything as well this engine is 15 years old 190000kms... whereas i can get an engine with anywhere from 50-100 thousand kilometers for the same amount of money as i can turboing this old garbage truck engine.
Anyways back on topic what would u say the percent of people who swap sr's into their cars have problems? are the nissan dealerships here in calgary capable of working on sr's, and if not any good mechanics??
EDIT: the engine i was talking about is a notchtop sr20

trust me, its not hard, just takes time. disconnect the harness. unbolt the tranny and engine mounts, pull her out. well there is a bit more involved but its all straight forward. than reverse but your adding in a intercooler in instead of an intake

sounds simple but if i drop 3500 + on an engine and intercooler and piping etc i dont really want to chance fucking it up ya know... also my exhaust is rusted to shit! if i get a cat back exhaust it will work with my KA or SR correct? i know that the position of the cat converter wont change i just want to triple check as i can only seem to find applications on the internet that say specifically for the KA or specifically for the SR
    any help greatly appreciated
also what is a good cat back exhaust bang for my buck?

buy a down pipe, they are cheap and you just need to hook up your cat to it than your cat back.

also, you can do a sr20 with a fmic for about $2500-2700 if you look around. ssautochrome makes good intercooler kits and they are $500....

    to what he said

I completed my first sr20 swap a few days back.. honestly it is a really simple swap, but there are so many little things it takes forever to do them. I'm sure my next one will be done twice as fast.
Everything is practically plug-n-play, wiring is much more simple than heavy throttle or other resources make it out to be. I found better ways of doing the wiring than cutting off the plugs as they suggested.
-Stock downpipe fits perfectly to the stock cat/exhaust.
-Heater hoses need to be ghetto-rigged with some pvc adapters and elbows.
    -Fuel lines extended.
    -Throttle cable mount modified.
-intercooler (sidemount was a bitch to install even though it bolts in, a FMIC would clean the swap up considerably)

One thing that I would definetly recommend woud be a Koyo radiator (P# R020252), and a set of electric fans. Good luck!
