Default Broken into @ Fish Creek Lacombe LRT station

    grrrr

They smashed the passenger window and helped themselves to everything related to my stereo except the HU (go figure).

all of the pics related to what was stolen are here: http://www.hostdub.com/zilla_album11

the false floor was designed to fit a 1999.5-2005 golf.

    What was stolen:

    JL 10W6 sub
    JBL 300.1 sub amp
    PPI Art 600 amp
    False floor install

let me know if you have any info on this or see the stuff come up for sale.

Shit dood...do NOT park there ever. There have been a ton of break-ins in the past. Even though the neighborhoods surround it are good you have to remember that other people are coming from everywhere to "shop" in the parking lots.

I parked there a couple times about 3 years ago....I never did again after seeing how many cars got smashed windows/stereo shit stolen.

Super, super sketchy area. Were you parking at the top parking lot across the street or the main lot by the platform?

I'd be willing to bet that the thieves are junkies from outside the city who can make an easy getaway down Macleod with everyones gear.

You should think about calling the RCMP in Okatoks.

well, i asked a bunch of people at work and some neighbours about parking there and nobody gave me ANY hint that it was a bad area. In all the time i've been going there I've never seen any hint of a break in.

I haven't even turned my stereo on in like 2 or 3 weeks, so it's not like im advertising that i have something.... and NOTHING was visible from the outside of the car and i had the faceplate off of the HU.

on the plus side, maybe i'll keep slamming the door on the drivers side and get some new window regulators out of it.

side note, i've never delt with alberta/AMA insurance. how do they assess the value of the stolen items? I'm not sure that I have receipts for the JL and JBL, and the PPI was bought used. and then there's the install itself, which wasn't expensive, but took me quite a while to build.

well you have pictures to document your stuff so the hadest part is out of the way. if you bought that stuff from stores they should haev duplicate copies (reciepts).

the ppi you might be out, and if you did the install yourself, then you are SOL. but the amp/sub you will be repaid for.

do they cut a cheque for whatever the current equivalent amp/sub retails for, or do they pay what you paid for the stuff when you bought it new?

Hard to say but when you purchase insurance from AMA, there's a amount associate to how much your vehicle is worth and declare that if you have aftermarket audio equipment. Your premium is base on those info.

Would they pay back what you paid? I doubt it. But having all receipts ready would help.

Also any LRT park n' ride are auto theft hot spots. I would rather pay $20 to park downtown than leave my ride @ a park n' ride.

I got my old car broken into at one of the lrt stations. my insurance paid me out in full for all my stuff, but they wanted to see receipts.

I am pretty sure whoever did it knew me or knew people who installed it at the local AV shop. I don't park my "good" car there anymore.

I'm starting to think that whoever stole my shit found out from someone who worked at a dealership because they are the only people who would have seen what i had in the trunk.

There was another VW that was knocked over in the same parking lot yesterday. We narrowed it down to happening sometime between 1:30pm and 6pm.

I won't put anything I own near a c-train station parking lot. I'm sorry to hear about your loss and hopefully insurance takes care if it all. There are some pretty sad people out there.

^ A really safe area though is Heritage Station's overflow parking lot. CPS has a storage facility behind and every type of Cop wheels behind there all day/night.

Also, bus station park and ride are usually smaller target due to smaller size and location in high taffic areas.
