Which 240sx Engine???

So I have an s13 chassis 240sx hatchback... what engine should I swao in!!!?!?!
s13 redtop
s13 blacktop
s14 notchop (blacktop)
as far as i know the s13 engines are exactly the same with the black tops possibly having less mileage, and the s14 is different in having nissan VTC (what EXACTLY does this do, I know its not like honda's vtec) and has a different turbo!
pricing from autodream is in order pricing goes up as you move from redtop to blacktop to notchtop. Any of you who have done the swaps what engine is best bang for my buck? is the 20hp extra out of a notchtop worth an extra 1000 dollars? post any tips or opinions! thanks

can't offer a great suggestion, but I believe the VTC IS like Honda's VTEC, since as far as I know, the S14s had variable valve timing, and that is essentially what Vtec is.

Well the redtop vs blacktop 20 hp diff for 350-400 extra for blacktop. Red/black have the same turbos, same everything. they are both rate at the some HP. i have not see a syno to prove otherwise. maybe its just prefrence on what colour your car is ......lol

black top and red top s13 sr20 are the same thing. but the black top came in newer model cars so chances are the km's are lower on it.

where is the ca18 love in the house

i wouldnt want to put a skyline engine in its waayyy to expensive... as for the CA18 love.. wouldnt a stock sr20 walk around a stock ca18? plus its newer less KM's (hopefully)

personally, i am sticking to my ca18's and plan on my next 240sx to have another one as well.

but don't put a rb engine in the car, go sr20

^.RB30's are much more easily attainable than going all the way to Australia, they will be available in Lethbridge pretty soon i think
VTC is able to change the timing by 20 degrees,but if you were put cams in your s14 SR, then it would be like an s13 SR i believe, minus the turbo part and the intake mani is different
