It is fine to do just make sure you rev it up as high as possible first. If you do it a low rpm's it can damage the tranny, and possibly even loosen your muffler bearings.

One thing that craigcd forgot to mention was that you should try and pop directly into D2 or even D1 to prolong the impending burnout.

one thing the BOTH forgot to mention, is that if you do a neutral drop at low RPM and only go into drive, as opposed to D2 or D1, there might be too much torque and you may crack your halogen fluid case, then thats when the REAL problems start with your car, my car was low on halogen fluid once, and i had to get a new engine within weeks

ok guys, he might not be the automotive demigods we all are, but instead of alienating yet another dude from the site, why not just tell him that:
a) dropping a car from neutral to drive will put incredible loads on the entire drive train, and is particularly hard on the tranny
b) Common sense man, what do YOU think.
P.S. i know that thinking is becoming a rare occurrence with our youth, but they must learn, and if not from their parents or other loved ones, then it must come from us
light switch
So does anyone who made a sarcastic post want to post a technical reply as to the actual physics as to what is happening to verify that it is bad?Originally posted by h22aseller
