Newbie, First Gear,.......

Hey could someone help me out, I feel retarded asking this, but dont really care. How does the Newbie, First Gear, Neutral, thing under our user names get figured out/Calculated?? I've been viewing here since Feb I think (cant see my thing right now), but i dont post for the point of posting, so I would think its the number of posts you do, cause im still considered a newbie

It's the number of posts you do. Posts in the general/ask leo sections doesn't count. Also if you don't post for a long period of time, the gears will start going down
