Cuba was fun....stayed in a more quite place (Cayo Coco). Had apparently the country's best beach there. Went with 4 friends for $1250/each all said and done (trip was last month)

I'm going to Puerto Vallarta this Saturday. All-in (flight, taxes, etc.) for one week at a 4+ star resort was around $900, but I prices seem to be rising in July.

Best priced places to go in the Carib are Cuba and Trinidad. ESPECIALLY during Carnival. Worst places (pricewise) are Antigua and Barbuda, Jamaica and Montserrat (although why you would want to vacation on a violently erupting volcano is beyond me :P). I lived in Antigua for a month as part of Archaeology field school, and while it is an absolutely GORGEOUS island with over 300 beaches and lots of great great GREAT skin and scuba diving locations, it is extremely expensive. Cuba, on the other hand, you can buy a full restaurant meal for $10 canadian and I mean appetizer, entree AND desert. Also, ask people around to tell you where to find one of Cuba's hundreds of hidden waterfalls. They're little waterfalls in the middle of the forest areas and they are like walking dead smack into Eden
