The purpose of unlocking your phone is so you can use it with another service provider.

The DCT-4 phones are GSM phones. So if you go buy a Rogers 8390 and have it unlocked you can use it with Fido and vice versa.

It's nice to see that people are offering this free now. Companies used to charge $40+ for this service but since the first person offered it for free it has sprung up everywhere for free and companies have been forced to drop their prices to around $15 max.

i don't think that anyone is offering that for free. it can be done remotely though. check out www.omegacell.com out of edmonton. it costs $35.00 though. not sure if you need a data cable???
