Well I looked into this, the Governor General's Foot Guards and the Canadian Grenadier Guards normally carry M-16's, and parade around parliament hill and Rideau Hall in those smart red or grey tunics with bearskin caps. Assign a few of these guys at any time to guard the memorial. They're already in the army and are authorized to carry weapons while on duty, they just need to be assigned by the chain of command. If you ever go to London, England, this is common practice there. For some reason in Canada people are squeamish about this.

Also, Canada has no shortage of guns to hand out for such tasks. The reserve armories have a good million guns or so stored in case of national emergency. Some of these are vietnam-era M-14's, but they still are perfectly function. Break some of these out of storage and distribute them to the ceremonial units for general guard use. Then you don't have to worry about expensive guns like the M-16 getting damaged from being toted around all day.

thats bullshit...sure we've all be drunk and pissed in random places, but to piss on a war memorial that reminds us of the sacrifices our soldiers have made...thats just disrespect. have you ever seen that memorial in person before? it's not exactly a well hidden thing, so there's no way they could just think it's a good place to take a well hidden piss. this is just a bunch of little asshole punks that dont care. i would love to see them serve jailtime or better yet, be shipped over to the middle east.
