If you go through UPS, be prepared to pay an insane amount on brokerage fees. If possible go through USPS. If you're not home, they'll leave you a ticket saying you can pick up your package at the canada post office on the ticket.

my friend ordered a massage chair in the states and shipped it UPS, the chair costed around $1500. UPS charge her around $500 for brokerage fees.

Every carrier will leave you some type of come pick up your items forms and its different depending where it is.
Last time I used UPS, they charged me $35 brokerage/duties fee for a $50 item. ha ha ha
    Use USPS.

Think it can depend on where you live, but for me if I need to pick something up, the locations are as follows.

USPS - local Canada Post Office

Fedex - middle of nowhere by airport (one of them side streets almost)

Purolator - on top of the hill by Deerfoot Mall

UPS - Near 32nd Ave between Edmonton Trail and McCall Lake Golf Course

If they leave a ticket, call them just to be sure where they've left your package for delivery.

If they let you, I find it easier to have things delivered to my office.
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.
