I personaly don't know anybody with one, but i have heard a mix reaction about them. Some people think its better to go standalone, but others swear on the vpc.

I was planning on getting rid of the afm because its way to freaking big. I don't know if you need installation help or what, but from alltrac.net i found installation on a 1st gen engine. But if there is anything else pm me, because i was planning on picking up one of these

VPC works well - better when custom programmed.

I think if you buy it directly from Reg Riemer at RCTS (http://www.monsterhorsepower.com/) you might get him to give you a break on custom programming it (using his dyno)...

VPC is discontinued. I don' tthink it's a great way of tuning. However I got mine cheap and I like not having an AFM.

However, I think mine may be faulty. So I wanted to test it on somebody else's system.

Pull the head unit and take it to Reg and he will hook it up to the computer and give you an answer right away.

I like not having the AFM as well. Probably plenty has changed since I did my build but at the time it was too restrictive and a major road block to making decent power. I don't know what else is available on the market these days instead of it...

Ugh , i hate how RCTS are the only ones who can properly tune HKS , i mean Reg is a cool guy , dont get me wrong , but sometimes I want things my way , and you just cant do that with them...

Standalone is the way to go ... but then it all comes down to a good tuner.

He is a cool guy - although don't count me as his fan club. He doesn't come too cheaply but he is packing a lot of expertise.

If I was doing it again I think I'd get a hydra nemesis ems...

They look good from the website but haven't actually seen anybody running one though...

I thought you were going with the ROM tune Max?

I'm running the Nemisis and it is working awsome for me. War is running the Nemisis on his monster as well. The key though is tuning. If you aren't willing to spend the money for good tuning then you should stay with the AFM and ~270hp.

ROM Tune Max? Don't think that was meant for me...

How deep into the pocketbook did your nemesis and installation go? It seems like such a simpler installation than all the small boxes I've got (with little acronyms) and if I keep the car I can justify ripping out the vpc, afm, fcd, etc..

I had a nemesis. but I couldn't do teh tuning.

So yea I got a ATS 550cc rom tune.

But I also have a VPC hooked up for the hell of it.

IT was running great for a few days, then all of a sudden runs like crap.

So I took it out and am running the AFM for now. Idle and everything is quite better than with the VPC. However there is NO POWER. very slugish and slow.

A map for any thing other than your exact engine setup is useless. Reg can run his supra around the world 1000 times but it means nothing to us.

I would trust my engine to Mathew over at Techmotion long before I would trust Reg.

whoa that's kinda harsh. I had a buddy that had techmotion tune his Power FC on a celica gts. He said it looked like techmotion didn't know what they are doing.

But I have no first handexperience with that. I've heard reg rimer is awesome, again, no first hand experience.
