Default 02 WRX VS silverado SS

I was at my corvette club meet and one of the guys just bought a new silverado SS, Nice looking truck, its got 20's AWD and 345hp. When we were leaving we happened to hit a red light beside each other and he gave me a funny look once he saw all my gauges, i was in the WRX not the vette.(probably thinking i was a slow ricer!!!) so he revved a bit I revved to 5k slipped the clutch when the light turned green. We both took off and the WRX pulled 2 car lenghts on him right off the line and it was all over. Another win for the rex. I can't wait till he takes me for a rip in his blown ZO6 (560WHP) that should be fun. Anyway it was nice to show a guy that doubts imports what they can do.

not sure what your impying. Slipping the clutch in a rex is less harmfull to the tranny then a complete drop. But it does wear out the clutch faster but thats alot cheaper than replacing the glass tranny. I didn't actually mean the cluth is slipping.

    Nice.

Personally, I feel the new SS is a huge disappointment. Granted, Its a beautiful truck, and has all the practicality of a regular truck, but the Silverado SS concepts up to this point have all been aimed at running with the Lightning and SRT-10. The immediate concept prior to this truck was a 6.6L bored out LS1 with just under 500 Tq and Hp, reg cab with six speed corvette manual.

The production version is essentially an 01 sierra C3 with a little more HP, much bigger rims and more weight, so it should be about the same in performance to that truck, which hit 60 Mph in 7.3 seconds. So your WRX, which hits 60 Mph in 5.8 seconds stock should have had no problem raping this truck.

    6.0L Vortec V8, 345 HP/380 Tq 4spd slushbox.

I agree it was a huge ddappointment. I am a big GM fan and i ws hoping they'd finally make something decent that would keep up to the lightning. The truck is way too big and in need way more HP. I think a regular cab short box 1/2 ton truck lwered and such would be cool if the stuffed anyhting with 450hp in it. They can easliy get that power out of the LS1 or LS6 or they could use the 6L or the new 8.2L (but thats getting a little heavy.) I would also like to see it be NA, which a few years ago i saw an interview with john moss and he said "they were working on a truck that made more hp than a lightning the old fashioned way"

I agree, this new truck was a HUGE disapointment to me.

I was looking forward to a shiny new Regular cab AWD, 6.0 liter, SS. And they gave us a tow vehicle....
