I am wanting to get a speed bag, if you guys are looking at the other punching bags, I am sure you've come across the speed bags. Anyone know where to get these, and how much they going for?

the brand you want is wavemaster.

watch out for the base. They make 2 kinds - one is a smooth plastic and the other is textured. the smooth one has a lot of seams and it flexible. I've seen some of those types of bases start to leak when they've been used a lot.

www.centuryma.com has them. you might find them cheaper elsewhere, tho. Century has a warehouse in toronto, so you won't have to pay duty and crap on it.

Personally i prefer the hanging ones. the upright ones are too easy to tip over.
    edit:

hanging bags are supposed to move around when you hit them.

you can get hanging ones with an eyelet on the bottom which you attach a bungee cord to and secure it to the floor. that way you can control the amount of movement by tightening the bungee cord.

that's what my boxing gym had many moons ago when I was a boxer.

Stand up bags never feel the same, I hate them personally.

The reason to get a hanging bag is so you can get used to moving around it while its swinging and getting your footwork and timing down...

The stand up wavemaster bags are pathetic. You spend more time picking it back up off the ground then you do throwing punches. If your hanging bag really moves around too much, get a heavier one.

i dunno my buddy has a stand up bag, and ive tried my hardest and i can never ever knock it over..

i might have to look into that bungee cord thing.. cause i can understand that its supposed to move a bit.. but it just get swinging like crazy... and its a 70lb bag...
maybe ill just buy a stand up bag, and hang my bag anyways.. be 2 times as hardcore

The Dragon's Den sells Muay Thai bags that go up to 200lbs.

    You can get a 200lb one for $360 or a 150lb for $321.

They don't swing as much, but they still swing. You'd want to make sure you have adequate height and structural support too.

Here is a pic of the $321 150lber with a Wave bag beside it. Good stuff!
