*suppose* to be first year phys haha

    im stuck on this question
A uniform door (0.81m wide and 2.1 m high) weighs 140N and is hung on two hinges that fasten the long left side of the door to a vertical wall. The hinges are 2.1m apart. Find the magnitude nad direction of the horizontal component of the force applied to the door by
    a) the upper hinge
    b) the lower hinge.
Deter the magnitude and diretion of the force applied by the door to
    c) the upper hinge
    d) the lower hinge

there is one more but it has a diagram and i dont know how to show it.

This school is fucked up like crazy, its more academic than cts, that makes a difference. I don't wanna start shit, but if Western sucks to ya, keep it to yourself. I could around saying that which ever school you went to/goto sucks ass, but I have no reason to.

    here it is:

first find center of door (0.81m/2 for width and 2.1m/2 for length), then seperate the force into vectors (0i - 140j)N (assuming the question is 2D) then find the moments of the 2 hings using M=Fd (M= moment, F=force, d=distance) then let say you have the moment for the lower hing, use it to find the mag and dir of the upper hing (the force of the hing should applied to the left)

part b (Deter the magnitude and diretion of the force applied by the door ) the force is exactly the same but the directions are opposite.

    hope this helps
