cool they are making a fully street legal version i saw a car like that awhile ago on discovery channel a year or so ago. maybe less. but it was a cool concept cuz its so quiet. and all you hear is the electric engine whirring when they take off it was yellow

edit: i had just done some reading from their site. they would not be selling outside of the continental united states. their batterys last for 100,000 miles its estimated at 80gs usd. and they won't have any customer care centers outside the us. so if you get one you have to get it shipped down to their closest center for repairs etc.

but on the good side. its fast and cheap to run if you don't count maintenance into it.

    Sounds good, except for
"Battery Life Useful battery life in excess of 100,000 miles"
That sounds like a pretty big expense every ~160,000km

and only available in continental US.

problably 2gs top in batterys(its what i'm guessing) might be wrong though. so if you do drive that much. saving 160,000km in gas could make up for it.

plus polution is very little in that car and its 0-60 in 4 secs with a top speed of 210km

"Tesla CEO Martin Eberhard has speculated that it would "cost between $85,000 and $120,000."

I think i'm going to grab an Exige for that price range

Pollution is just moved to the power plant.

    Build more reactors, I guess.

    they estimate it'll cost 1 cent/mile
    i get about 10 cents/km (10km/dollar)
so its an improvement for sure... then 160000k's... thats about $16000 of gas (my math may be way off here, its almost 3am) vs $1600 of electricity... which you could probably charge publicly if you were sneaky enough... on top of 2g's for battery, so thats about 3600 as opposed to 16000... seems like a big enough difference to me

Edit: 13,500rpm redline... 248hp, low rpm torque, 2 gears, regenerative braking, as well as a few listed perks... all build into the chassis of a lotus elipse... if i had the money... -sigh-

Still think the volta is nicer...

So what do you do to mod these things? Probably need an electrical engineering degree at the least...

True it does look nicer. But its a hybrid, also its from toyota so it wont be out anytime soon. Tesla motors is a small company made up of internet tycoons. So another words they are going to try to push the tesla car out faster.

There's a catch to charging it in 3.5 hours, you need a 220 volt, 70 amp outlet. Don't think many houses have those installed.

That's the same as the plug for your dryer or range. I think every house has one of them.
