    Default Airmiles Bankruptcy

It's being reported Loyalty Ventures which is Airmiles parent company is filing for bankruptcy. Tried redeeming the points I have after seeing the news and everything seems to be down for 'maintenance'.

I didn't realize they were a public company until today and after seeing the chart this report looks legit:

I cashed out $40 in Uber Eats cards last week to use up my points. Still had $10 in Miles left to use up
. Guess there was a reason Sobeys/Safeway dropped them as their reward points system.

Air miles have been shut for a long time. But it's a good reminder that reward points should not be stockpiled.

I’d suggest using your Husky points next, they are almost out of retail stations in Alberta…

Lololol their merchandise site loads blank. I can't even see what type of blender I can get with my points.

Apparently BMO has agreed to buy the Airmiles program.

LoyaltyOne says it has assets of about $10 million, against liabilities of up to $1 billion
    Damn.

Wonder how much of that is AirMiles.

Get the wife to use the points at shoppers for their big point redemption days for skincare.

Actually a decent cash saving exercise ^

Use them on your groceries! We get quite a bit off every month from all the points we bank up.

It's working now. I didn't have much as I stopped using Airmiles years ago, so just ordered some giftcards. Even if BMO takes them over the program is likely not to improve.

My biggest redemption was a Bose stereo 4900 air miles, I think took 4 years to get that.

Don’t use it much anymore but I remember it was pretty good for a good chunk of time. Averaged around 1200 air miles a year I think.

I never bank those unless you want to play that Shoppers Bonus Redemption Events game.

Doesn’t loblaws own the program? Doubt they would kill it, that would be suicidal in terms of backlash.

Considering their net income, the program is a profit driver.

Since Sobeys quit using Air Miles the only major place now I think is Shell and points there as dismal.

Doesn't have to be skincare exclusively, apparently some Shoppers locations carry electronics and consoles.

Otherwise use it during bonus redemption at Real Canadian Liquorstore (not as good as Shoppers, but still decent).
