    Default Private Sales are Final??

Alright, so here's a stupid dilemma I'm trying to resolve, and want your opinions on ;-)

I advertised a computer motherboard I had for sale in my building, and another resident who lives here called/me etc.

After a few weeks (no joke) of phone tag, we finally met up this afternoon. He looked at it, liked it and gave me the cash for it and everyone was (I thought) happy.

Anyways, a few hours later (like 10 mins ago) he comes back to my place telling me his own memory he has doesn't fit into it and he wants his money back. I pretty much told him to screw off and he kept insisting that it was only fair to give him his money back since he was "doing me a favor by buying it to begin with". He inspected it before buying, and I understand it could be an honest mistake (I always get confused too with what works with which, etc), but is this really my problem?

Would you guys return the money? My biggest quam is that it was a pain in the ass to sell the first time around, and I don't want to deal with it again...

Retard should have checked first. He should know to always research before buying shit. In this case I'd say FINAL.

    ya, his problem.

Here's an example you can use to maybe get rid of him.

A guy I worked with bought a new truck and it was too long to fit in his garage. Do you think the dealership would give his money back because he didn't pay attention to detail.

Yeah, if it's working fine and stuff, screw him, shouldn't have bought it then. I doubt you'd try selling stuff to this tard again, so
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

moral? why doesnt he think about the seller, wasted his time and probably money.

Only in North America has this thing call "refund" (may be europe too? no idea). Everywhere else as soon as you walk out the door, sales are final.

Noway I bet he fried it and now wants to pawn it back on you. Probably plugged firewire into a USB header or some stupid shit like that. Seriously. If you take it back it'll probably be busted.

Consider refunding it, but take something for your time like $20. It's nice to help a guy out, but your time is worth something too.

I think you should refund it, assuming it's still in resellable condition.

It's buy and sell karma, this will come back on you someday if you screw him. Sure he made a mistake, and if it had been a week or two, the case would be different.

If he had swung up to your apartment and said "give me 10 minutes to make sure my ram fits" you'd have said "no problem".

what an arrogant bastard... fuck him he bought something that doesnt fit, and how do you know he didnt plug it in incorrectally and fry it. I know its an honest mistake but it was his mistake not yours! he can sell it then, since it is his. automotive places have no returns on any electronics for that reason that people are stupid and plug shit in wrong... same with most computer places

no one does you a favor by buying your stuff! thats why the buyer is usually happy because private sales are amazing deals from the store.

I understand the pissed neighbor thing though... so its a toughy... but I like the truck analogy the best.

Also whoever said about him asking if he could go and see if the ram fits I agree with too.... but he didnt ask that and bought it on assumptions.

Like when I purchased my motorbike, i bought it as is... after I took it apart and realized it needed a little TLC and that is why it was running like shit... I didnt go back and bitch... i fixed it

Yup, the exchange was made, money for pc. Private sale, so nothing he can do about it and the refund is up to you.

Meh, I've sold a video card that didn't work for the buyer...I bought it back. A few months later I bought a set of fogs for my car, they didn't fit...I got my money back too. What goes around comes around. I dont sell shit, and I'm not out to profit off of someones misfortune or bad luck.
