Default Custom painting and affects on helmet

    Hey,

Just a quick question. Does anyone know if you got a custom airbrush job on your helmet would it

    A. Void DOT certification
    B. Compromise the shell of the helmet and its effectiveness to keep your melon intact?

    Thanks,

    Jamie

It's fine as long as you don't sand the helmet down.

JUst rough it up enough to take paint.

Just wondering if you had a place in mind to paint your helmet? Or have already got it done. I was thinking of getting my helmet done with some sort of logo, just to make it little more personal

well, there is one problem. There is a DOT sticker on the back of the helmet. If you paint over it or remove it, your helmet is no longer legal to wear on the road. Fortunately, most cops don't have a clue so it doesn't matter.

Oh, and removing and re-affixing a DOT sticker is illegal.

i am sure you could just incorporate the sticker into the painting. or just paint around it.

But you know of a place to get it done at?

If you take it to someone who knows what they are doing, it will not compromise the safety of the helmet, as the prep work does not alter the shell.

Helmet will still be DOT, and meet the standards, however, it does
likely void any warrenty on the helmet may have.

Now the question is who in town is good enough with an airbrush to do it?

I've heard Screamin Paintworks has a guy who can do it. Anyone else?

Any what kind of $$ are we talking about?

Call up the service department of Calgary Harley, as they know of a number of people that do amazing work. On their classifieds/bulleten board, there are lots of posters with numbers. It would almost be wise to go there in person as there is this guy in Airdrie that does out-of-this-world work.... the kind of shit you see in magazines. I forget his number unfortunately.

Helmets like any custom art varies greatly. This will give you an idea of what ballpark you are looking at http://www.painincorporated.com/modu...rder=0&thold=0
