I'm not famming you man, just a comment in general. The way that SUV's are manufactured, the suspension and what not are really made for "off road" driving and not highway cruising...

I just bought it and was testing it out, my buddy with a maxima (believe it has the same engine), said his car maxes out @ 150 too

I think you have to mess with the ECU (someone correct me if i'm wrong) to remove the governor, probably not worth it unless you do a lot of highway driving.

I had a 95 that was limited to 155 KPH

We used to have a 93 that would probably go 170ish KPH (not sure exactly as it the speedo only goes up to 160 and the needle was going quite a bit past that)

You are probably getting over 25L/100km at those speeds too - Very thirsty engines!

What's the fun in going the speed limit in the middle of the night when there are no cars around?

In my car, 150kms is only getting things started.

Not really defending speeding but I just feel that there are certain conditions where it is OK to push your car just a bit. Mind you if you get a ticket, you have to own up to it. Just like how I tell my buddies, if we get a $500 stunting ticket, you bitches better not be whining about it.

Ok anyway, I had a 1988 Camry that was limited to 150km/h. It was actually a good thing that I couldn't go any faster.

live with the 150km/h (especially with a pathfinder) from here to e-town i like to average 160 in a civic hatch, SUV's could roll over with the sudden movement on the steering wheel... and that would suck man

trust me... a few friend on mine rolled over on deerfoot 8 times, because of a sudden lane change in a celica doing about 200+ km/h, and their still bitching about their necks and shoulders... you dont wanna be in their position

another question... are rev/speed limiters applied on manual transmissions???

To answer your question it CAN be taken care of an overriden... But why?

If you dont have the right setup to do it, don't do it. Not to mention the legal purposes.

Now, Im not saying ive never maxxed out my car to 200, but now that I've smartened up I realize that one good bump in the road at that speed could end your life.

the easy to way to turn off your governor is take off the harness connected to your speed sensor. this has a few bonuses - your speedometer doesn't work so you can use that as an excuse for speeding, your odometer doesn't go up so you can pretend you have super low mileage, and it is a free ticket to jail if you get caught! But at least the governor would go away.

they governor is set to your max speed rating on your tires usually. if you went very far past 150 they would probably explode.

You will set an engine code if the ecm does not know what the veh speed is. It will then only let the engine go to a certain rpm

a lot times vehicle's are governed at a certain speed due to the tires...most suv tires are not rated for high speed.
